• This was a triumph.
I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS.
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.
    Aperture Science
    We do what we must
    because we can.
For the good of all of us.
Except the ones who are dead.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
    And the Science gets done.
And you make a neat gun.
For the people who are still alive.
    I'm not even angry.
I'm being so sincere right now.
Even though you broke my heart.
    And killed me.
    And tore me to pieces.
And threw every piece into a fire.
As they burned it hurt because I was so happy for you!
Now these points of data make a beautiful line.
    And we're out of beta.
    We're releasing on time.
So I'm GLaD. I got burned.
Think of all the things we learned
for the people who are still alive.
    Go ahead and leave me.
I think I prefer to stay inside.
Maybe you'll find someone else to help you.
    Maybe Black Mesa
    THAT WAS A JOKE.
    HAHA. FAT CHANCE.
    Anyway, this cake is great.
    It's so delicious and moist.
    Look at me still talking
    when there's Science to do.
When I look out there, it makes me GLaD I'm not you.
    I've experiments to run.
There is research to be done.
On the people who are still alive.
And believe me I am still alive.
I'm doing Science and I'm still alive.
I feel FANTASTIC and I'm still alive.
While you're dying I'll be still alive.
And when you're dead I will be still alive.
    STILL ALIVE
    STILL ALIVE

Games for Amnesty – Charity for Charity

Games for Amnesty has so far raised $173.44 for Amnesty International- but we have no intention of stopping there! Though right now we’re only active at Hanover college, we want to help wherever we can.

Want to run a Games for Amnesty tournament day in your area? Contact us! We can help you make it happen, and make a difference.

FAQ

SO, HOW DOES IT WORK?
Its fairly simple. Get registered as an offical Games for Amnesty campus with us, then set up a Games for Amnesty charity event with your Student Activities Director (or your campus’ equivalent). Then hold a day of fun featuring all of your favorite games in a building on your campus, charging an admission fee. Send us a check for the total sum of your earnings, and we’ll get the money to Amnesty International.

HOLD UP, I’VE TRIED THIS BEFORE AT MY CAMPUS, PAYING TO PLAY GAMES IS TECHNICALLY GAMBLING IN THE STATE I LIVE IN…
We encountered this problem ourselves when we first set up. Paying to play a game is gambling, but paying an admission fee to go into an even where there are games is not. Its a loophole sure, but its 100% legal. You might wan’t to check with your Student Activities Director just in case though, as Charitable Gaming Laws vary from state to state.

WHAT IF I WANT TO GET A GAMING LICENSE?
If you want to go to that trouble to have more freedom in planning your event, by all means go for it! However, getting a Gaming License (or your state’s equivalent) takes time. The system we have set up is meant to make the process easy.

ARE YOU RECOGNIZED AS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION BY THE US GOVT.?
No. We have, sadly, not raised enough money for that to be an issue. As it is, our earnings are far below taxation levels. Hopefully we’ll make enough that we have to barrel through loads of paperwork soon enough! We’re excited to fill it out.

  •   There is a lot to love about charity; the simple act of giving is often cited as a reward in itself, bestowing happiness and long life. However, we at Games for Amnesty know you’re busy, so why should you take time out of your life to help with this specific event rather than others? Well, we made a list! You get to….
  • 1. Hold tournaments for games you love — any games you love, be them video games, card games, boardgames, role playing games, or anything else — and raise money for charity.
  • 2. Provide a day of fun that raises awareness for your own organization, as well as giving you a philanthropic event to list for your annual activities. Having a philanthropic event on your group’s resume can help with recieving college funds, as well as giving the public and your campus as positive view of your organization.
  • 3. Support Amnesty International, and help suffering people all over the world.
  • 4. Be in control of the ins and outs of how your day of fun goes. We have no strict guidelines, as long as nobody gets hurt and everything is legal. You can run your day however you want. We don’t want you to play any specfic game.

Games for Amnesty is completely non-for-profit. All funds we raise go to Amnesty International.
